This is essentially a Conn 88H with the rose brass bell and slide tubes with features of a King 4B slide. Inner slide tubes were replaced with Chrome (rather than nickel) plated over nickel. (After having owned a 1975 King 4B Silver Bell for a time, the slide with this “Limited Edition” is very much like the King 4B slide, including the finger ring for the left index finger and the brass crook. However, the outer slide tubes are rose brass rather than nickel.)
To accommodate the Thayer Conversion Unit, the slide was widened using a new 42B Bach slide crook (brass) that we had nickel-plated inside and out by Anderson Plating, this to combat brass rot. Recommend weekly flushing of the outer slide with clear water and when using a cleaning rod, make sure to have the cloth cover the end of the rod and be gentle to avoid scratching the inner plating.
The Slide is has regular (rather than spring-loaded) barrels and is just excellent!
This is one fantastic professional level “big-bore tenor bone” and is highly recommended for any serious high school or college player and of course, professional players.
