This Yamaha YSL-640 was purchased new by the owner, my buddy, John, from The BrassWind in August, 2016. Due to an accident at work unrelated to music that severely damaged his front teeth and leaving a nasty scar on the inside of his upper lip, he is very reluctantly giving up playing and has decided to sell this virtually new horn. Feel free to make an offer.
This is Yamaha’s top of the line .525” (medium bore) tenor trombone.
He paid $2,127 and barely had time to break it in. John has a remarkable ability to get his slides as smooth as silk. The rotor is extremely quiet and quick. John has always been very fastidious about the maintenance and care of the horns and cases he’s owned over the years. John has quite a collection of mouthpieces and in addition to the Yamaha 48 that came with this horn, he’ll include one other from a list of 10 small shank mouthpieces that he’ll provide. He’ll also provide his supplies (Yamaha slide lubricant, rotor valve oil, Schilke slide grease, water bottle and a Hamilton trombone stand). The case comes with a shoulder strap and two keys.
This would be a terrific horn for a high school, college or professional player. Mouthpiece selection could enable a player to use this horn for first (lead), second or third trombone, concert band, jazz band, orchestra, ethnic band, etc. This instrument blends beautifully with others, has a very mellow sound and quick response.
The pictures are mine. This is an “as is” transaction.
